Mexicana, a story of family passion and heritage.

The story begins in the late 1980s, at a time when the cowboy boot was not just a boot, but a symbol. A rallying sign for lovers of rock, denim and freedom; a way to assert a lifestyle guided by a taste for adventure. Here, it is a family story.

A passion that brings people together and spans generations. Today, the third generation carries the Mexicana house forward, staying true to its roots while driven by the desire to write the next chapter of its story.

At the origins of a culture of style.

In the 1970s, Elysée discovered fashion and retail. An aerospace worker during the week and a salesman at weekends, he quickly developed a keen eye for products and for the expectations of his time. A visionary, he became one of the pioneers in importing jeans and iconic pieces from the United States.

This intuition led him to open his first boutique, Le King. A lively place where a passion for product was passed on day after day. Lionel, Thierry and Hervé, his three sons, spent their afternoons there after school, immersed in the world of retail and style. Over the years, this experience shaped their eye and their sense of detail: cut, material, durability, but also the story a beautiful piece is able to tell.

The discovery of Mexico, a revelation.

In 1987, Lionel and Thierry set off on a journey to Mexico, an adventure that would transform their vision of the future. In León, the birthplace of the western boot and leather craftsmanship, they discovered a unique artisanal know-how.

Workshops where ancestral techniques have been passed down for generations. Artisans who master the Goodyear Welt construction, ensuring exceptional quality, comfort and durability.

1987, the MEXICANA brand was born.

A name that felt immediately obvious:
“a tribute to the land that nourished our dreams”

The brand brings together folk spirit, rock soul and contemporary refinement. Each creation celebrates the passion of those who wear it.

Heir to the artisanal know-how of León’s greatest master bootmakers, a global benchmark for western boots, Mexicana embodies complete mastery of cowboy bootmaking, from the selection of leathers to the finished product.

At the time, however, the western boot remained confined to a fixed imaginary world: that of the cowboy, his hacienda, working the land and tending cattle. A piece steeped in history, yet often limited to a single register.

Crafted, not produced.

Mexicana shines a light on authentic craftsmanship inherited from Mexican artisanal tradition.

Exceptional leathers, precise gestures, techniques inherited from a centuries-old tradition: nothing is left to chance. Tradition meets contemporary boldness to give rise to designs with a distinctive style—rock, elegant and timeless—the pillars of the brand’s identity.

Mexicana’s mission.

From the very beginning, the intention was clear: to offer the western boot to every style, every personality, every form of freedom. Mexicana set itself the mission of democratizing the western spirit in Europe and around the world through eclectic collections that allow everyone to make each model their own, according to their style and personality.

“Each design is conceived so that everyone can identify with the Mexicana spirit.”

Born from passion. Built to last.

At Mexicana, the guiding word is passion.

A passion for boots with a soul, for those that tell a story and accompany the women and men who wear them in their everyday lives as much as in their escapes. Each pair is designed as a faithful travel companion. A style object, certainly, but above all a piece of character, made to live, develop a patina and stand the test of time.

“Crafted using the Goodyear Welt construction, Mexicana creations are made to last.”

Travel as the guiding thread.

It was a journey to Mexico that shaped Mexicana from the very beginning and continues to inspire its creations today.

Driven by Mexican culture and a spirit of adventure, the Mexicana universe naturally expands. One desire: to accompany travel in all its forms. Because travelling is not only about walking; it is about carrying the essentials with you. Travel calls for other forms and uses,

Mexicana thus develops a complete leather wardrobe, true to its heritage.

Pieces designed for movement, crafted from the same exceptional leathers, with the same manufacturing standards and the same sense of detail. Faithful travel companions, made to last.

Mexicana x Comme des garçons

Born from Mexico’s Tribal Guarachero culture, this boot draws inspiration from the iconic silhouettes worn by the dancers and musicians of the scene. For the SS27 collection, Comme des Garçons reinterprets this popular icon through Rei Kawakubo’s avant-garde vision, bringing Mexican heritage into dialogue with contemporary fashion.

With its elongated silhouette, smooth black leather and deliberately exaggerated pointed toe, this Mexicana x Comme des Garçons creation transforms traditional craftsmanship into a sculptural statement, where every curve expresses a new vision of the boot.
